Parking at a Concert
WERE DO I PARK??? Parking can be one of the most stressful parts of going to a concert. Navigating hundreds of cars in an unfamiliar place can be be extremely overwhelming. Here are few helpful tips and options to consider when finding the perfect spot to park your car. Most venues offer both free and paying options so it is always good to be prepared when planning for a show
Paying for Parking Options:
It is a wise idea to check out the venue’s parking situation before you go. If the venue offers a parking pass, it can be helpful to get one. This helps guarantee there is a parking spot for you, and makes the overall parking experience go much smoother. Most ticket vendors also sell parking passes for large shows.
Be aware prices often change based on the event, meaning a sports game parking price and concert parking price may vary in price.
Always bring extra cash with you. Most parking at shows is cash only and makes things quick and easy when trying to find a space.
Use an App or Website to find parking
There are a handful of apps and websites that will show you where to park and how much it costs, some even let you make per-paid reservations before you go to the show.
ParkMobile.com
This website has locations in most big cities and even has its own concert parking section, complete with a tutorial on how to make music event parking reservations.
Parkme
This app checks parking prices and shows you which parking lot is the cheapest.
ParkWhiz, BestParking, and Arrive.com are also websites/apps that offer parking information and work hand in hand with venues and ticketing providers all over the U.S. to offer parking discounts and bundles for big music events.
Cash is also helpful for after the show. Many car companies such as Uber or Lift will offer you a ride back to your car for a small fee. These can be very helpful, if you parked pretty far away. Please remember to never get into a car that does not have the approved Uber or Lift sticker if you choose this option.
Free Parking Options:
In most circumstances you can also find some form of free parking. If the venue does not have free parking, try parking in a nearby neighborhood or side street. Just keep an eye out for “Resident Only” or “Customer Only” signs.
You can also look at public transportation. In most large cities’ public transportation such as taxis, buses and metro stations are well established and easy to use. This is also a great option if you are planning on drinking at the concert.
Carpooling with a friend is also a way to save on a parking fee. If you have someone you are going with, it might be worth asking them if they want to car pool with you.
